The view from my house (私の家の絶景)

The view from my house is wonderful. My house is located near the top of mountain, which altitude is about only 100m. There are few buildings in Auckland city, so I can see Sky Tower from my house. And I can hear the sound of birdsong. I like this view from a dining room.

私の家は100mぐらいの標高の山の上の方にあるので、新しい家からの眺めはとてもいい。オークランドの都市はビルが少ししかないので、スカイタワーが家から見えます。そして鳥の鳴き声も聞けるので、このダイニングからの眺めが大好きです。

Speaking English1 (英語で話す! 1)

I criticized Japanese education, so I will tell you about my way of speaking English. When I speak English, I try to imagine what I want to say instead of translate. However, if you want to do this way, you have to practice some points.

1. Vocabulary : It is very important. If you know a lot of vocabulary, you can use many words.
I can't help you this point. However, when you speak, you can use words fewer than that you know, so I recommended duo 3.0 or the book of sentence using vocabulary. (not just word list)

2. Grammar : This is also important, because you can tell other people correctly using correct grammar.
It means you will be able to use present, past and present perfect sentence.

For example:
If you want to talk about now.
Do you like/go/want -------?
I like/go/want --------------.

If you want to talk about yesterday.
What did you do ------?
I did/saw/went -------.

If you want to talk about experiment.
Have you ever been/seen/driven -------------?
I have ever/never been/seen/tried -----------.

In short, you remember these forms because of repeating sentence many times. And first, you imagine what you want to tell your friends, second you start to explain your image with using vocabulary and grammar. So you don't need to translate your own language into English.

日本語教育を批判したので、こうしたらいいんじゃないかという私の英会話実践方法を書こうと思います。いいかもと思ったらやってみてください。英語で話すときは翻訳するかわりに自分のいいたいことをイメージで考えるように気をつけてます。しかし、この方法をやるためには、ちょっとコツが必要。

1.単語
　単語はやっぱり重要です。語彙力があれば、たくさんの単語が使えるので簡単に説明できる。語彙力アップは手伝えないですが、会話の際に使える言葉は自分が知っているものよりも断然少なくなるので、ただのワードリストではなくDUO3.0のようなセンテンスのなかに単語を使っているものを使ってセンテンスや音で覚えるのが効果的だと思います。

2.文法
　これも重要。正確な文法を使わないと正しいことが使えられないです。一番重要なのは知ってるではなく使えるようになること。

たとえば

もしあなたが話したいトピックが現在のときは、
Do you like/go/want -------?
I like/go/want --------------.
現在形の文で話す。

話したいことが過去であれば、
What did you do ------?
I did/saw/went -------.
過去形で話す。

話したいことが今までの経験の話であれば、
Have you ever been/seen/driven -------------?
I have ever/never been/seen/tried -----------.
過去完了形で話す。

要するに、こういったセンテンスを何回もつかって話すことで正しい文法を使えるようにしましょー。そうすれば、最初に戻ってまず話したいことをイメージ。次に単語や文法を総動員して、それを英語で説明。そうすると翻訳する必要がなくなるのです。
一見難しそうだけど、単語も文法もちょっとずつ使える数を増やしていけばいいので、イメージ→英語で説明するを繰り返していけば、ちょっとずつ進歩が見られるはずです。

How to study IELTS writing 8

ちょっと長いので日本語オンリーで。英語の文章もアカデミックライティングの方法は形が決まってます。それなので、文章の書き方を知ってしまえば、そんなに難しくない。そしてもちろん基本的には長文も同じ方法で書かれているので、リーディングにも役立つ！というわけです。
日本でもただ単に日本語から英語に返るとかそういう練習より、ライティングの方法を教えたほうがよっぽど役に立つのになーって個人的には思います。まーそれはさておき、英語のエッセイの構成について以下に記載します。

文章の構成：IELTSのタスク2の時間はたいてい40分程度で250wordなので、4段落（パラグラフ）程度になると思います。段落の構成は以下のとおりです。
第1段落：序文（イントロダクション）
第2,3段落：説明（ボディパラグラフ）
第4段落：結論（コンクルージョン）

各段落の構成
第1段落：序文（イントロダクション）
　→イントロダクションの書き方は決まっていて、一般論（General statement）→少し主題にフォーカス（Specific statement）→テーマ＆自分のコメント（Thesis statement）という順番に書いていきます。
たとえば、「地球温暖化」に関するトピックを書くとすると。。。。
１．一般論（General statement）
今日では世界中でいろいろな問題がある。
２．少し主題にフォーカス（Specific statement）
一番大きな問題のひとつが地球温暖化で、多くの国々が地球温暖化を改善するための施策をしているものの、今のところ大きな成果は見られていない。
３．テーマ＆自分のコメント（Thesis statement）
地球温暖化の問題に取り組むためには、政府の努力ももちろん必要だが個人個人の意識や協力が重要だと私は考える。

こんな感じで一番最初の段落（パラグラフ）が完成します。それなので、ここまでは改行しません。

第2,3段落：説明（ボディパラグラフ）
　→ボディパラグラフも同じように書き方が決まっています。その段落の主題（Topic sentence）→なぜそう考えるのか裏づけ→段落の結論という順番です。段落の主題で述べたことと違う考えは、その段落に含めないように注意してください。
１．その段落の主題（Topic sentence）
地球温暖化の問題への取り組みは政府間の合意が一番重要である。
２．なぜそう考えるのか裏づけ
ひとつの国だけが、がんばって二酸化炭素の排出量を減らしたとしても、もっと多くの人口を抱えた国が今までの倍の二酸化炭素を出していたら、結局地球全体の二酸化炭素排出量は減っていないからである。
３．段落の結論
地球温暖化の問題への取り組みは各国の政府間で話し合い協力していくことが重要である。
第2段落を「政府間の協力」について書いたとすると第3段落はイントロダクションのテーマのところで書いたとおり「個人の意識、努力」について書くことになります。

第4段落：結論（コンクルージョン）
　→結論（コンクルージョン）は、まとめ（Concluding stntence）→コメント（Final coment）の順に書きます。このとき絶対に新しいアイデアを盛り込んではいけないので注意してください。
１．まとめ（Concluding stntence）
要するに、地球温暖化の問題に取り組むためには、政府の努力ももちろん必要だが個人個人の意識や協力が必要なのである。
２．コメント（Final coment）
政府は、各国と地球温暖化について話合うだけでなく、もっと国民への地球温暖化に対する理解と協力を求めていくべきである。
こんな感じです。

という訳で、長文読解の際は第1段落の一番最後、第2段落以降の最初と最後、最後の段落の一番最初に重要な情報があることになります。ただし、文章によって若干構成は異なるので、その前後をみることも忘れずにー。
実際のライティングはこちらのIELTSのサイトが参考になります。Bandごとにどのぐらい書けるとどのぐらいのスコアなのかというのがわかるのでこちらをどーぞ。

Nice to have things in NZ's life (普段の生活であると便利なもの)

I started a new life in New Zealand. If I have some goods, I will live in a new house comfortably. I recommend following goods.

ニュージーランドでの新しい生活をスタートして、あると快適な生活を送れるグッズを紹介します。

1.Sunglasses
Now it is summertime in New Zealand, so the sun light is quite strong. If you travel to New Zealand, you have better bring sunglasses.
(By the way, the word of “glasses” is a plural form, because glasses have two lenses.)

ニュージーランドは夏なので、とっても日差しが強いです。もしニュージーランドへ旅行するならば、サングラスはもっていきましょー。（ところでメガネという単語は複数形です。なぜならレンズが2枚あるから。）


2.Vitamin
I need to get Vitamin C & B every day, because I want to save money and make meals every day. However, I can’t buy a lot of vegetables, so this Vitamin makes up for nutrition.
I bought this one at a low price in New Zealand's supermarket, there are chewable tablets, which have a tasty lemon flavor.

2.ビタミン剤
私はビタミンCとBを飲んでます。 節約したいので、毎日料理してますが、たくさん野菜をとることは難しいのでこれで補っているつもり。
ニュージーランドではスーパーで安く売ってるので私はいっつもそこで買ってます。かむタブレットでおいしいレモン味。


3.Aromatic Oil
I lived in a new house, which smells other houses or people. I’m not nervous, however if I use an aromatic oil, I will be able to sleep well.
Especially citrus aromatic oils work as an anti-insect way, so this is useful.

3.アロマオイル
たいてい新しい環境の家は違う匂いや違う人のにおいがします。私は神経質ではないとおもいますが、よく寝るためにはこれは必需品。思いのほか役立ちました。（これはオレンジスイートです。）
特に柑橘系だと虫除け効果もあるのでとっても便利。

Train (電車)

In New Zealand, the train had stopped since 26th December in 2009. It started running this week. It isn't convenient, but I like New Zealand’s train. It is cute for me the train to stop running quite long term.

電車が2009/12/26から止まっていましたが、ようやく今週から再開。とっても不便だけど、ニュージーランドの電車は好き。それなので、長い期間とまっているのもかわいく見える。

Nice to have things in flight (飛行機であると便利なもの)

When you take air plane, if you bring these things, you will feel comfortable. Maybe it depends on your flight, but I recommend these things.

飛行機に乗るときにあると便利なものを紹介します。好みの問題なので、いいなと思えばぜひやってみてください。

1. Slippers!!
It is very important for me, because I want to take off my shoes during flight. If I wear slippers, it doesn't look duty even taking off my shoes. And I use it in my house.
This slippers are given my husband, because it was the bonus of Softbank.

これは私にとっては絶対必要。だって飛行機の中で靴ぬぎたいもん。スリッパがあると飛行機の中で靴縫い出ても汚らしく見えない。そして海外のホテルはスリッパないところ結構あるので、現地でも使えるから便利です。これはだんなさんがくれたソフトバンクのお父さんスリッパ。ちゃんとしゃべります。



2. Pillow
It was a gift of my host family. Air line's pillow is too bad, so I use this one. Now I still use this pillow.

こっちは、ホストファミリーがくれた枕。航空会社の枕はひどいので、私はこれを使ってます。そしてこっちも今家で使ってます!!

Japanese education (日本の教育)

I thought I wanted to write about Japanese education, but this topic is very difficult for me. Today I try to write about it.
Many Japanese people think that they can't speak English well. However, if they graduated high school, come to New Zealand and study English at school, maybe most people can start at middle level. (My school has 8 levels for English from hello to advanced.) Many Chinese, Russian, Thailand and Vietnamese students start from more low level, but they don't think like Japanese people.
Japanese education of English is a wrong way, because English isn't so difficult. And we have known English grammar already.
Why do they think they can't speak English well?
I think maybe they compare their English with native English speaker.Of course, some people don't think that. However, many people including me have some such feeling.
This is the worst thing in learning English, because if you learn mathematics, you will try to solve a question, understand the answer, get self-confidence and solve other questions easily. One of the most important things of learning is confidence. I think Japanese education should be changed as soon as possible.
Please stop comparing your English with native English speaker and have a fun of speaking with many other country's people!!


今日はまじめなお話で前から書きたかった日本の教育について。でもちょっと難しいトピックなので英語と日本語で書いてあることがちょっとちがいますが、ちょっとでも考えるきっかけになればと思います。
さてさて、多くの日本人は英語を話すことに苦手意識？（なんていったらいいのかわからないけど。話せないって思っている。）があるんじゃないかと思います。でももし、日本で高校卒業後、ニュージーランドに来て語学学校に入ったとすると、多くの人は真ん中ぐらいのレベルからスタートしています。（私の学校は8段階にレベルわけされていて、一番下は挨拶やアルファベットから始まって上級レベルまであります。）多くの中国人やロシア、タイ、ベトナムの生徒はもっと下のレベルからスタートしていたりするけど、日本人のような苦手意識は特にもってないです。
日本人の場合、高校までですでに文法も身につけているし、英語はそんなに難しい言葉ではないのに苦手意識をもってしまうのは日本の英語教育の方法が間違っているからだと私は思います。
では、なぜ英語を話せないと思ってしまうのか？
私の個人的な考えだと、たぶん常に自分の英語をネイティブ英語と比べてしまうからではないかと思います。もちろんそう考えない人もいると思いますが、私を含めて多くの人はネイティブと比べて英語が話せないから自分は話せないって考えてしまうんじゃないかなと最近思っています。これは当たり前で、日本で育った人にとって英語は第二の言語で発音ももちろん日本語なまりだし、ボキャブラリーも少ない。それは当たり前のことだから、少しでも近づく努力をすればいいと思うんだけど。
このネイティブと比べて苦手意識をもってしまうことが一番の問題だと私は思います。たとえば数学の勉強をするときは、問題を解く努力をして、解けなくても答えを理解し、自信をつけて他の問題を簡単に解けるようになる。そして私は数学ができるという自信を持つ。一番重要なことのひとつは自信つけることなのに、日本の教育はこれが欠落していて、英語がしゃべれないという苦手意識を植え付けてしまっている。それなので、早く教育方法が変わるといいなと真剣に思っています。
英語を話すときはネイティブと比較するのはやめて、日本語なまりの英語で堂々と他の国の人と会話すること楽しんでほしーです!!といいつつ。私自身が一番気をつけて意識改革しているところ^^

Sunscreen SPF70 (日焼け止めSPF70)

In New Zealand, sunscreen is very important, because sun light is so strong. I feel my skin get sunburn. I think New Zealand is not only located near the ozone hole, but also has naturally strong sun light. And day light is quite long, so we can enjoy sun shine from 6am to 9pm and plants grow up quickly.
This sunscreen is SPF 70. I had never seen sunscreen of more than SPF 50. My friend said it existed SPF 100, which I haven't seen yet. You can understand how strong the New Zealand's sun light is.

ニュージーランドは日差しがとっても強いので日焼け止めは必需品です。今焼けてるっていうのがわかるぐらい強い。たぶん、ニュージーランドはオゾンホールに近いからだけでなく、もともと日差しが強かったんじゃないかと思う。そして日照時間もすごい長いので、朝の6時から夜9時まで明るいし、植物もぐんぐん伸びる。
この日焼け止めはSPF70。日本ではSPF50以上の日焼け止めって見たことないと思うけど、こんなところもさすがニュージー。私はまだ見たことないけど友達はSPF100もあると言ってた。ニュージーランドの日差しがどれだけ強いかよくわかる！

Summer (夏!!)

I love summer, so now is the best season!! In New Zealand, summer is not so hot. It is very comfortable.

夏が好きなので今は一番いい時期！！ニュージーランドの夏は暑すぎないので、とても快適。

My room (私の部屋)

My room gets a lot of sun light, because it has a big window. I like my room. (However it has a spider.But I don't care.) My ex-house is cleaner than this house, but I think this house is cleaner than average KIWI houses. When I looked for flat, I saw 6 houses and choose clean and comfortable house.

私の部屋は大きな窓があるので日当たりがよいので好き。(クモもいるけどね。まーでも気にしない。)私の前の家のほうが断然きれい。けれどもこの家も普通のKIWIの家に比べたらきれいな方。フラットを探しているときに、6件みて一番きれいですごしやすい家にしたのでいいところです。

Spider (くも)

Have you ever seen a spider hanging in the spider's line? I saw it in front of my face yesterday. Firstly, I didn't realize what it is, because it looks like a cartoon. I don't like a spider. However, I was impressed.

クモがぶらーんってクモの糸にぶら下がるのをみたことがありますか？昨日私の部屋の中で顔の目の前にクモが下りてきた。最初、あまりにもアニメのような出来事だったので理解できなかった。もちろんクモはきらいだけど、本当にこんなことってあるのかと感心。これがそのクモ。

Moving out (引越し)

I moved my house yesterday, so I started living in my new flat. (But it is old house.) This house shared 5 people, Japanese and KIWI couple, Japanese man, Japanese girl and me. The idea of flat is not famous in Japan. Flat means a house sharing other people. I think it is a good idea, because people can live in a house affordable. If I want to buy a house by myself, I can't buy it. However, I can live in a house in the way of flatting. Therefore, I can see my house yard.

昨日引越しをしました。それなので新しいお家。（フラットとこっちでは呼びます。新しいといっても家自体は古いですが。）日本人とKIWIの夫婦（この夫婦が家を持っています）、日本の料理人男性、日本人女性の5人でひとつの家に暮らしています。フラットというのは、ひとつの家を複数人でシェアすることです。この考えは日本にはないですが、低価格で大きな家に住むことができるのでとてもいいと思います。だって、もし私が家を買おうと思ってもNZで買うことはできないけど、フラットという方法で住むことはできるからです。それなので、私は自分の家の庭とか眺められちゃうのです。

Life Expense (生活費)

I write about life expense of overseas education. This is my life expense in 2009.
そろそろ留学の生活費について、こっちが生活費。


It is total expense including tuition and home stay fees. My school gave me 3 weeks bonus, so I paid only one week tuition on December.
こちらは学費とホームステイの費用を含めた合計。12月は3週間分の学費はおまけだったので、1週間だけ払いました。

Tokyo (東京)

I went to Tokyo Station. There were a lot of people in Tokyo. The population of Auckland is much smaller than Tokyo, so I have seen a lot of people for a long interval. One of New Zealand's good points is nature!

東京駅にいってきました。やっぱり人がたくさんいるねー。オークランドの人口は東京よりずっと少ないので（120万人です^^）久しぶりにこんなに人がいるのをみた気がする。やっぱりニュージーランドのいいところは自然だわ！

Happy New Year!!

I spent a wonderful time on winter holiday! I ate a lot of delicious food and took a bath for long time. I think Japan is a good country, because Japan has delicious food, many shops, many friends and my husband!
According to twelve signs of the Chinese zodiac, this year is tiger in Japan, so a lot of products of tiger are sold. I bought coffee beans of tiger at Starbucks:) It is very good!!

とっても楽しい冬休み（夏休み）をすごしました！美味しいものを沢山食べて、お風呂に長い時間入って。。。おいしいものがたくさんあって、お店もたくさんあって、友達も私のだんなもいて日本はいい国だと思う^^
十二支だと今年は日本は寅年です。それなのでスタバで買ったコーヒー豆もトラマーク。このコーヒーはとってもおいしいです！

Return to Tokyo! (東京へ帰国)

I am going to Tokyo, so I am in Auckland airport now. Yesterday I said thank you to my host family. My host mother and father told to me that I could leave my luggage and be taken to the airport. They are very kind to me, but I already have left my luggage and booked shuttle bus to go to the airport. So I’m OK. Today I left home 5:30 am, so I’m sleepy. However, I’m very very glad to come back!! See you New Zealand!

今、東京へ向かっていて、オークランド空港へ到着。昨日はホストファミリーにありがとうとお礼をいってお別れしました。私のホストマザーとホストファザーは荷物置いてってもいいよとか空港まで送るよとかいってくれましたが、朝のフライトが早いので自分でシャトルを予約したし、新しいフラットにすでにレフトラゲッジしてきたので、大丈夫と伝えておきました。みんなほんとーにやさしくてよかったです。今日は家を5:30にでてちょっと眠い。でも日本に帰国するのですっごく楽しみです。またねーニュージー！

School holiday (お休み)

Fortunately, I will start school holidays from tomorrow, so I have last day today! Today is a beautiful day. We are very glad for this weather. We hope tomorrow will be fine too.

明日からお休みがはじまります。今日は最終日。今日はとっても気持ちいいので、みんな大喜びです。明日も晴れるといいなー。

Cruise ship (豪華客船)

I saw a big cruise ship in Auckland harbar. I said it to my host father. He said, "It is not expensive. Sometimes you can find a cruise travel from $500."

大きな豪華客船をオークランドの港でみかけたので、ホストファザーに話したところ。「船のたびはそんなに高くないよ。安いのは500ドルぐらいからあるよー」だって。のってみたいー！

Christmas Present!!

I bought Christmas Presents for my host family. My family was 6 people, so I needed to buy 6 presents. I concerned about what I bought for my family, and I don’t know what they like really. Therefore, I bought cosmetics for my host mother and her daughter, a bottle of wine for host father and 3 boxes of chocolate for brothers. Maybe it will be good for them. Also, I bought wrap for presents. I needed spend money for Chrismas, but It was interesting for me!

ホストファミリーにあげるクリスマスプレゼントを買いました。うちの家族は6人なので6個必要なの。。。。何が好きなのかあんまりわかんないので何を買うかすごい迷ったけど、結局ホストマザーとホストマザーの娘さんにはロクシタンのハンドクリームにして、ホストファザーはワイン（これも$15ぐらい。安すぎ？）、息子たち3人へはチョコレートにしました。たぶんよろこんでくれるんじゃないかと。。。。あとはラッピンググッズを買ってラッピング！NZのクリスマスはお金がかかるけど、楽しくなってきた。

Hilton again!!

I wanted to eat oysters before going back, so I went to Hilton restaurant and ate oyster. My host mother and father said curiously, “Do you eat oyster? It’s slimy. I can eat mussels, but I don’t like oysters.” However, I like oysters especially overseas oysters delicious, because it don’t smell like Japanese oysters.

帰る前にかきが食べたかったのでまたヒルトンへ。私のホストマザーとホストファザーは面白そうに「かきを食べるの？気持ち悪いのにムール貝の方がいいよ」とかいってました。でもかきはおいしい！特に海外のは日本のみたくにおいしないので、ぺロッと食べられます。

SOSHI?

Almost all New Zealander like sushi and ice cream, so SOSHI is combined sushi and ice cream! However, I have never seen to buy it. Uh! It is too difficult, because consept is combined salty food and sweets.
But I think this poster is cute!

ほとんどのニュージーランド人は寿司とアイスが好きなのでSOSHIはおそらくみんなの好きな寿司とアイスを合体させたんだと思う。でも買っている人をみたことない。たぶん甘いものとしょっぱいものを合わせた名称のアイスって概念的に難しいのかも。。。。
まーでもポスターはかわいいので、よしとしよう！

Cash less (キャッシュレス)

It is enviable for Japanese people to pay everything by credit cards or cash cards. In New Zealand, they can pay everything by cards except bus and train. Because almost all shops have EFTPOS, which is a pos system using credit cards and cash cards. It is easy to pay money. If you pay by cards, you will swipe the card, select way of paying check, saving or credit and push PIN. That’s it. Such a small shop has this system, so I can live without cash. However, I spend more money because of unrealistic.

日本人からしてみればすべてカードで払えるなんてうらやましい話ですが、ニュージーならバスと電車以外全部クレジットカードやキャッシュカードで払える。というのもほとんどすべてのお店がEFTPOSというカードが利用できるPOSシステムをもっているから。支払いは簡単で、自分でカードを通して支払方法を選ぶ（チェック、セービング、クレジットの3種類）あとはPINコードを入力して完了。こんなに小さな店でさえもっているので、キャッシュレス生活をおくることができる！ただし、お金を使った実感がないのでよりお金をつかっちゃうけどね。

Snow Dome (スノードーム)

I found the Snow Dome in city. It is the same size as human, so I can go to inside. But if you go in it and take a picture, it needs you to pay money:)
This is summer time, but New Zealand's Christmas decollation is almost all winter version. It is little strange and looks warm. However, I haven't believed now is in December yet.

人間が入れるサイズのスノードームをシティで発見！！そうこの中に入れるんです。でも入って写真撮るとお金払わなきゃいけないけど^^
夏なのににゅージーランドのクリスマスはほとんど冬の飾りつけ。ちょっと不思議だし、暑苦しい。。。こんなに無理しなくてもいい気がするけど、きっと特別なものなんだろーな。。。。今が12月なんて未だに信じられないです。

Celebrate (お祝い)

We celebrated my friend's birthday and my test result! So, we went to Italian restaurant and ate a lot of Italian food. We eat simple food every day. I think it is important for us to eat luxurious food rarely!!

友達の誕生日とテストの結果をお祝い！イタリアンレストランにいってたくさん食べてきました。いつもはほんとーに質素な食事なので、おいしいものを食べることは重要^^

Christmas Festival! (クリスマスフェスティバル)

I went to the Christmas Festival!! There were a lot of people, who had a fun listening to music and drinking wine, in the park. They bring a bottle of wine, sandwiches, chairs and blankets. (Night time is still cold.) New Zealanders were Very smart!
I thought it is good, because they have a nice time with their family and friends. I took these pictures around 8:30, so the sun sets late!

行ってきましたクリスマスフェスティバル！音楽をきいてワインを飲んでって言う人がたくさんこの公園にいました。みんな本格的で、ワインにサンドウィッチ、いす、ブランケット（まだ夜は寒いので）を持ってきてました。ニュージーランダーはかしこい！
みんな素敵な時間を家族や友達とすごしていてほんとーによかったです。写真をとったのは8:30ごろ、ニュージーランドは日が長いです！

Christmas Festival! (クリスマスフェスティバル)

There are a lot of Christmas festivals in December. My host father has recommended me Christmas in the Auckland Domain, which is a large park, since Thursday night, so he suggested it two days night because of free and enjoyable New Zealand’s Christmas. In New Zealand, it is illegal to drink alcohol at public space. However, today is allowed to drink alcohol in this park. Therefore, I want to go to this Christmas festival, but weather is not so good. I hope it will be held tonight!

12月になるとたくさんのクリスマスフェスティバルがあります。私のホストファザーはオークランドの大きな公園で開催されるクリスマスフェスティバルに行くように木曜の夜から2日間もすすめていました。理由はただっていうのとニュージーランドのクリスマスらしさを味わえるから。ニュージーランドは公共の場でアルコールを飲むことは違法なのですが、今日はOK。すごくすすめてくれたので、いってこようと思っていますが、天気が悪いのでどうだろう。今日開催されるといいなー！

Coffee VS Juice (コーヒーVSジュース)

In New Zealand, some goods are cheaper than Japanese ones. However, others are more expensive. For example, I can buy a coffee for $3.50. This is cheaper than Japan! However, a bottle of juice costs mostly $3.00 or more than $3.00. I can’t believe a coffee is the same price as a bottle of juice!
I like coffee, so I buy coffee at a shop sometimes!!

ニュージーランドって日本より安いものもあれば、日本より高いものもあるので結局生活費は驚くほど安くはならない。たとえば、コーヒーはたいてい＄3.50で買えるので日本より安い。でもジュースはたいてい$3.00かそれ以上。コーヒーとジュースが同じなんて信じらんない！って思う。
コーヒー好きなので、たまにお店で買って飲んでます。びんぼー学生には毎日は無理なんで、いつもはインスタントで^^

Laundry

I care for host mother when I want to wash my laundry, so I wash laundry once a week. These days are warmer than before. I washed my clothes yesterday and hung them outside. I like washing laundry, because my clothes become clean and makes me happy.　I looked at my laundry this morning. There is a slug on my laundry!!!!! OHHH MY GOD!!!
I was sad today. I will ask my host mother that I wash my laundry again.

洗濯ってホームステイをしてると気を使うので、1週間に1回洗濯するようにしてます。最近はあったかくなってきたので、昨日は洗濯ものを外にほしました。洋服がきれいになるので、洗濯は大好き。でも今朝私の洗濯物をみたところ、なんとなめくじがいる！！！！！！！！えええええーーーーーー。
さすがになめくじは私の想定外だった。さすが大自然の国ニュージー。
本当にかなしい。とりあえず帰ったらもう一回あらっていいかホストマザーに聞こうと思います。。。。。（泣）

Pohutukawa

This flower is Pohutukawa. You can see this flower anywere in New Zealand. My host mother taught me this flower, which bloomed in summer. She said this flower was suitable for Christmas. There are red flowers and green leaves, so it has green and red color. It is very cute!!
Maybe this flower’s name” Pohutukawa” was Maori language. Pronaunciation of Maori language is similar to Japanese Roma-ji. I can read it easily. I think this flower is very beautiful and fits New Zealand well!

この花は"プフトゥカワ"（たぶん。。。）というそうで、ニュージーランドのいろんなところにあります。私のホストマザーが教えてくれて夏に咲くので、クリスマスの花として最適。赤い花に緑の葉っぱ、赤と緑で確かにかわいい！
たぶん花の名前の"プフトゥカワ"はマオリの言葉で、マオリの言葉は日本語のローマ字発音が似てる。だから私たちにはとっても読みやすい言葉です。
この花はとってもきれいで、ニュージーランドによく似合う！！夏っていいねー

Christmas! Christmas!! Christmas!!!

Now, New Zealand is Christmas season! So there are a lot of Christmas decollations!

Hilton Hotel (ヒルトンホテル)

I went to Hilton Hotel to eat lunch. Hilton is located at harbor, so we can eat delicious meal watching the sea. It is not so expensive lunch. (I think lunch costs $50-70 including one glass of wine, but it depends on your order.) If you have time, you will go to Hilton Hotel.

ヒルトンにランチを食べにいきまた。ヒルトンは港のヘリにあるので、海を見ながらおいしい食事が食べれる！しかもそんなに高くない。（たぶんグラスワインを頼んでも$50から$70ぐらい。ただ頼むものによるけどね^^）時間があればぜひヒルトンへ！

Piha Beach (ピハビーチ)

I went to the Piha Beach yesterday. My host family took me to the Piha Beach. It took 1 hour driving, but it is very very beautiful place. The Piha Beach is famous for rough waves, so there is a TV program, called “Piha rescue.” However, it is good for surfer, because waves have strong. I wanted to surf this beach.
The Piha Beach has beautiful sea water and black sands, which is made from a volcano. The sands was soft and comfortable.

昨日はホストファミリーがピハビーチにつれてってくれました。1時間ぐらいドライブするだけで、こんなに素敵な場所があるなんて！ピハビーチは海が荒いのが有名で「ピハレスキュー」なんてTVプログラムまである。サーファーにとってはいいポイントなので、結構サーフィンやってる人がいました。私もちょっとやりたいなーって思ったけど。まだ水は冷たい^^
きれいな海で火山灰でできた黒い砂。砂はふかふかしてて気持ちよかったです。

Go outside! (お出かけ♪)

My class mates and I went to the One Tree Hill yesterday. It wasn't rain, but very windy, so we looked from top of the One Tree Hill only 5 minutes. However, it is good for us, because we have studied for 12 weeks.
In New Zealand, the term of public school is 10 weeks. Therefore, there are 4 terms in a year. We studied during public school holiday. Well done!!

昨日はクラスメートと一緒にワントゥリーヒルにいってきました。雨は降らなかったけど、とっても風が強かったので、5分ぐらいみただけ。でも12週間勉強した私たちにとってはとってもいい気分転換。
ニュージーランドの普通の小学校とか中学校は1学期が10週間。だから1年間4学期制。それなので、私たちはスクールホリディ期間中も勉強してたんですよー。よくやった！

My course will finish today! (コース終了)

Today, my course will finish. When the course started, I felt that 12 weeks was long, so my English would be improved well. Maybe, my English is better than before, but it is less than I expected. It takes long time to learn English.
We will have a party in class today, because the class will finish! My teacher going to take us to One tree hill, but weather is bad. Never mind!!

今日、今のコースが終了します。最初は12週間は長いから、私の英語もすごく上達するわ。なんて思ってたものの。まーよくはなったけど、思ったほどではなかったかもという感じ。英語の上達には時間がかかるものなのねー。
　今日はコース最後の日だから、授業時間にパーティーです。ワントゥリーヒルに連れて行ってくれる予定なんだけど、天気があんまりよくない。まーここはKIWIっぽく天気は気にせず、楽しもうと思いますー。

Teaching Origami (折り紙を教える)

When you teach someone Origami, you will find it difficult to explain how to make Origami. For the first time, I understood that it is hard to teach children how to make Origami, because I didn’t know important words, which were used to make Origami. Therefore, I couldn’t say how to make it, so I could only show them how to make.
If you know these word, you will teach how to make Origami easily. Of course, it is the most important to make with your host family or friends.

折り紙を教えようとしたときに、たぶん折り紙の作り方を説明するのは難しいっていうことに気がつくと思う。初めて折り紙を教えたときに私も難しいなーって思った。それは、折り紙を作るときに使う重要な単語を知らないから。だから、ほとんど言葉で説明できず、作り方を見せてあげるだけになっちゃいました。
もしこれから書く言葉を知っていれば、たぶんもっと簡単に作り方を説明できるはず！（たぶん）もちろん、一緒に作って見せてあげるが一番重要ですー。

Fold : 折る
　この単語を知らないとほんとーに説明できないです。（谷折、山折って単語はたぶんないと思うのでつくって見せてあげましょー）

Turn around ： ひっくり返す
　この単語は知らなくっても、turnを覚えてれば、見せながらであればなんとかなります。

Open up : 開く
　折り紙は「折り目をつけるだけ」って動作が多いので折ると同じぐらい重要。

Blow : 息を吹く
　息を吹いて膨らませるのって結構あるのと、折り紙のボールを作ると子供は喜ぶのでこれも便利な単語。

ホストファミリーの子供に喜ばれる折り紙

• 鶴 ： 定番
• ボール ： 息を吹き込むのがおもしろいらしく人気
• 船 ： うちのホストの子は、この船をリアルの水に浮かべて「ただの紙でできてるから、ぬれちゃった」っていってました。かわいい♪
• 小物入れ : これもなかなか人気です。
• 12角形?いがいがボール : ちょっと時間がかかるので、子供はあきちゃうから作ってあげてみせてあげるといいかも。

一番重要なのは、「難しくなくて、一緒に作れること！！」です。

それなので、子供が作れるものを教えてあげましょー。きっと出来上がったら、子供たちは急いでお母さんたちに見せに行きます＾＾

Origami (折り紙)

I found Origami display. I brought Origami here, because I want to introduce Japanese culture to my host family. However, I found it difficult to play Origami with my host family. Fortunately, my host family has accepted many home stay students, so host family’s children know Origami and like it. They were given Origami by Chinese student. They said, "Origami is Japanese culture. I don't know why Chinese student is Japanese culture. I don't know why Chinese student bring Origami." It was very expensive Origami, but it is too difficult for them because of complication. Therefore, they can't plat that Origami.
I play Origami with the children sometimes. The most popular Origami is Pokémon’s one. Pokémon is also popular here. If you stay at host family, who has children, you will bring Pokémon goods. My host children were very glad for Pokémon goods!
Next time, I want to write useful words, when you will teach Origami to someone.

折り紙が展示されているのを発見。私も日本文化をホストファミリーに教えようと思って、折り紙もってきたけど。なかなかホストファミリーと折り紙やる時間なんてない。今日は日本文化を教えるわみたいな感じにならないかぎり^^
ラッキーなことに、うちのホストはスチューデントをたくさん受け入れているので、ホストファミリーの子達も折り紙を知ってて好きだってことをがわかった。彼らは中国の学生からもらったのをもっていて「おりがみは日本のなのに。なんで中国の子がもってきたのかわからない。」って言ってた。それはとっても高価な折り紙だったけど、子供にはあまりにも複雑で難しすぎるので、ぜんぜん作ってなかった。
今はたまに、ホストの子達と折り紙をやって遊んでます。一番人気があったのはポケモン折り紙！ポケモンはこっちでも子供たちに大人気です。もし子供のいる家にホームステイするならポケモングッズをもっていくといいかも。うちの子達はポケモングッズ大喜びでした！！
次回は折り紙教えるときに便利な単語を書きたいと思いますー。

Clear (快晴)

New Zealand is gradually warm!! Thesedays, there are fine. It's very confortable. However, I can't believe today is December. I feel strange:)

ニュージーランドはだんだんあったかくなってきてます。最近は晴れて気持ちいい♪
でも、これが12月なんて信じられない。とっても変な気分^^

Bowling!? (ボーリング？)

I had never seen this bowlling. When I asked my host father, he said”There are three kinds of Bowling in New Zealand: ten pin bowling, bowling of this picture and petanque.”
I took a picture with friendly people, who enjoyed bowling and drinking beer!

こんなボーリングみたことなかったですが、ホストファザーにきいたらボーリングも3種類あって、10ピンボーリングとこの写真みたいなボーリングとペタンクがあるんだよだって。
ボーリングとビールを楽しんでいる陽気なおじさんたちと一緒に写真をとりました！
