Christmas! Christmas!! Christmas!!!

Now, New Zealand is Christmas season! So there are a lot of Christmas decollations!

Hilton Hotel (ヒルトンホテル)

I went to Hilton Hotel to eat lunch. Hilton is located at harbor, so we can eat delicious meal watching the sea. It is not so expensive lunch. (I think lunch costs $50-70 including one glass of wine, but it depends on your order.) If you have time, you will go to Hilton Hotel.

ヒルトンにランチを食べにいきまた。ヒルトンは港のヘリにあるので、海を見ながらおいしい食事が食べれる！しかもそんなに高くない。（たぶんグラスワインを頼んでも$50から$70ぐらい。ただ頼むものによるけどね^^）時間があればぜひヒルトンへ！

Piha Beach (ピハビーチ)

I went to the Piha Beach yesterday. My host family took me to the Piha Beach. It took 1 hour driving, but it is very very beautiful place. The Piha Beach is famous for rough waves, so there is a TV program, called “Piha rescue.” However, it is good for surfer, because waves have strong. I wanted to surf this beach.
The Piha Beach has beautiful sea water and black sands, which is made from a volcano. The sands was soft and comfortable.

昨日はホストファミリーがピハビーチにつれてってくれました。1時間ぐらいドライブするだけで、こんなに素敵な場所があるなんて！ピハビーチは海が荒いのが有名で「ピハレスキュー」なんてTVプログラムまである。サーファーにとってはいいポイントなので、結構サーフィンやってる人がいました。私もちょっとやりたいなーって思ったけど。まだ水は冷たい^^
きれいな海で火山灰でできた黒い砂。砂はふかふかしてて気持ちよかったです。

Go outside! (お出かけ♪)

My class mates and I went to the One Tree Hill yesterday. It wasn't rain, but very windy, so we looked from top of the One Tree Hill only 5 minutes. However, it is good for us, because we have studied for 12 weeks.
In New Zealand, the term of public school is 10 weeks. Therefore, there are 4 terms in a year. We studied during public school holiday. Well done!!

昨日はクラスメートと一緒にワントゥリーヒルにいってきました。雨は降らなかったけど、とっても風が強かったので、5分ぐらいみただけ。でも12週間勉強した私たちにとってはとってもいい気分転換。
ニュージーランドの普通の小学校とか中学校は1学期が10週間。だから1年間4学期制。それなので、私たちはスクールホリディ期間中も勉強してたんですよー。よくやった！

My course will finish today! (コース終了)

Today, my course will finish. When the course started, I felt that 12 weeks was long, so my English would be improved well. Maybe, my English is better than before, but it is less than I expected. It takes long time to learn English.
We will have a party in class today, because the class will finish! My teacher going to take us to One tree hill, but weather is bad. Never mind!!

今日、今のコースが終了します。最初は12週間は長いから、私の英語もすごく上達するわ。なんて思ってたものの。まーよくはなったけど、思ったほどではなかったかもという感じ。英語の上達には時間がかかるものなのねー。
　今日はコース最後の日だから、授業時間にパーティーです。ワントゥリーヒルに連れて行ってくれる予定なんだけど、天気があんまりよくない。まーここはKIWIっぽく天気は気にせず、楽しもうと思いますー。

Teaching Origami (折り紙を教える)

When you teach someone Origami, you will find it difficult to explain how to make Origami. For the first time, I understood that it is hard to teach children how to make Origami, because I didn’t know important words, which were used to make Origami. Therefore, I couldn’t say how to make it, so I could only show them how to make.
If you know these word, you will teach how to make Origami easily. Of course, it is the most important to make with your host family or friends.

折り紙を教えようとしたときに、たぶん折り紙の作り方を説明するのは難しいっていうことに気がつくと思う。初めて折り紙を教えたときに私も難しいなーって思った。それは、折り紙を作るときに使う重要な単語を知らないから。だから、ほとんど言葉で説明できず、作り方を見せてあげるだけになっちゃいました。
もしこれから書く言葉を知っていれば、たぶんもっと簡単に作り方を説明できるはず！（たぶん）もちろん、一緒に作って見せてあげるが一番重要ですー。

Fold : 折る
　この単語を知らないとほんとーに説明できないです。（谷折、山折って単語はたぶんないと思うのでつくって見せてあげましょー）

Turn around ： ひっくり返す
　この単語は知らなくっても、turnを覚えてれば、見せながらであればなんとかなります。

Open up : 開く
　折り紙は「折り目をつけるだけ」って動作が多いので折ると同じぐらい重要。

Blow : 息を吹く
　息を吹いて膨らませるのって結構あるのと、折り紙のボールを作ると子供は喜ぶのでこれも便利な単語。

ホストファミリーの子供に喜ばれる折り紙

• 鶴 ： 定番
• ボール ： 息を吹き込むのがおもしろいらしく人気
• 船 ： うちのホストの子は、この船をリアルの水に浮かべて「ただの紙でできてるから、ぬれちゃった」っていってました。かわいい♪
• 小物入れ : これもなかなか人気です。
• 12角形?いがいがボール : ちょっと時間がかかるので、子供はあきちゃうから作ってあげてみせてあげるといいかも。

一番重要なのは、「難しくなくて、一緒に作れること！！」です。

それなので、子供が作れるものを教えてあげましょー。きっと出来上がったら、子供たちは急いでお母さんたちに見せに行きます＾＾

Origami (折り紙)

I found Origami display. I brought Origami here, because I want to introduce Japanese culture to my host family. However, I found it difficult to play Origami with my host family. Fortunately, my host family has accepted many home stay students, so host family’s children know Origami and like it. They were given Origami by Chinese student. They said, "Origami is Japanese culture. I don't know why Chinese student is Japanese culture. I don't know why Chinese student bring Origami." It was very expensive Origami, but it is too difficult for them because of complication. Therefore, they can't plat that Origami.
I play Origami with the children sometimes. The most popular Origami is Pokémon’s one. Pokémon is also popular here. If you stay at host family, who has children, you will bring Pokémon goods. My host children were very glad for Pokémon goods!
Next time, I want to write useful words, when you will teach Origami to someone.

折り紙が展示されているのを発見。私も日本文化をホストファミリーに教えようと思って、折り紙もってきたけど。なかなかホストファミリーと折り紙やる時間なんてない。今日は日本文化を教えるわみたいな感じにならないかぎり^^
ラッキーなことに、うちのホストはスチューデントをたくさん受け入れているので、ホストファミリーの子達も折り紙を知ってて好きだってことをがわかった。彼らは中国の学生からもらったのをもっていて「おりがみは日本のなのに。なんで中国の子がもってきたのかわからない。」って言ってた。それはとっても高価な折り紙だったけど、子供にはあまりにも複雑で難しすぎるので、ぜんぜん作ってなかった。
今はたまに、ホストの子達と折り紙をやって遊んでます。一番人気があったのはポケモン折り紙！ポケモンはこっちでも子供たちに大人気です。もし子供のいる家にホームステイするならポケモングッズをもっていくといいかも。うちの子達はポケモングッズ大喜びでした！！
次回は折り紙教えるときに便利な単語を書きたいと思いますー。

Clear (快晴)

New Zealand is gradually warm!! Thesedays, there are fine. It's very confortable. However, I can't believe today is December. I feel strange:)

ニュージーランドはだんだんあったかくなってきてます。最近は晴れて気持ちいい♪
でも、これが12月なんて信じられない。とっても変な気分^^

Bowling!? (ボーリング？)

I had never seen this bowlling. When I asked my host father, he said”There are three kinds of Bowling in New Zealand: ten pin bowling, bowling of this picture and petanque.”
I took a picture with friendly people, who enjoyed bowling and drinking beer!

こんなボーリングみたことなかったですが、ホストファザーにきいたらボーリングも3種類あって、10ピンボーリングとこの写真みたいなボーリングとペタンクがあるんだよだって。
ボーリングとビールを楽しんでいる陽気なおじさんたちと一緒に写真をとりました！

Big pine cones (松ぼっくりが大きい)

I found big pine cones. These are bigger than Japanese ones. Maybe the size is the same as tall size of Sturbucks' coffee. However, I looked at these carefully. I felt yacky. How do you think?

松ぼっくりを発見。日本のより明らかにおおきくてスターバックスのトールサイズと同じぐらい。でもよーく見ると気持ち悪い。どう思いますか〜？

Garden (庭園)

New Zealand is affected the United Kingdom, so there are a lot of Western gardens in New Zealand. Almost all gardens are covered with lawn grasses and well looked after. I think parks in the United States are different from gardens. However, it is difficult for me to explain these differences. Therefore, please look at my pictures!
(When I went to this garden, some people celebrated for wedding!!)

当たり前だけどニュージーランドはイギリスの影響を受けているので、ニュージーランドには西洋風の庭園がたくさんある。ほとんどの庭園は芝で覆われていて、よく手入れされている。アメリカのパークとはまた一味違っていておもしろい。何が違うか説明するのは難しいので、写真を見て楽しんでくださいー。
（ちょうど庭園に行ったときに、結婚式をやってました^^）

Lovely streets in Rotorua (ロトルアの素敵な町並み)

I think that one of the best points in Rotorua is street, because there are lovely cute streets. In the United States, everything is big. However, New Zealand is not so big. Therefore, I don't feel something is wrong. Sometimes, I forget that I live in New Zealand.

ロトルアのいいところのひとつは町並み。ロトルアは、すごく素敵でかわいい町並みです。アメリカはなにもかもが大きいけれど、ニュージーランドはそこまで大きくない。それなのであまり違和感を感じないです。ときどきニュージーランドにいることすら忘れてしまいます^^

Air New Zealand Wine Award (ニュージーランド航空ワインアワード)

The results of Air New Zealand Wine Award have been decided. New Zealand is famous for wine, so I can get a good wine for low price!
But I have never drunk a good red wine here, because white wine is more popular and better than red wine in New Zealand. I want to buy a red wine listed this site.

ニュージーランド航空ワインアワードの結果が出た。ニュージーランドはワインで有名なので、安くおいしいワインが手に入る。
でも、なかなかいい赤ワインに出会えない。たぶん白ワインの方が赤ワインよりも力を入れているからだと思う。（好みもあるけどね）このリストにある赤ワインを買ってみたいなーって思いますー。

Cute MacDonald! (キュートなマックを発見)

I found the Cute MacDonald, that picture is the shop in Rotorua. The flags of McDonald and New Zealand were shown at the roof of this shop.
It looks like McDonald was established in New Zealand!

またまたロトルアの話。キュートなマックを発見。この写真がそのお店。マックとニュージーの旗が屋根にあるの。まるで、マックはニュージー発祥みたいな感じ^^

Santa Claus (サンタクロース)

I found Santa Claus at St. Lukes shopping mall in New Zealand. I realized If you take a picture with Santa, you will pay money after taking this picture. Maybe he didn't think I was 32 years old:)
I thought Santa, who lived in south hemisphere, wore a red shirt with short sleeve. But he didn't wear it.

サンタクロースをニュージーのセントルクスショッピングモールで発見。この写真をとってから気づいたけど一緒にとるとお金払わなきゃいけないみたい。たぶんサンタは私が32歳だとはおもってないだろーな^^
南半球のサンタは半袖なのかと思ったけど、そうじゃないんだねー。

Iceberg heading for New Zealand (氷河がニュージーランドに接近)

I am interested in about the news of iceberg. New Zealand is near the Antarctica, so Iceberg float from there. I saw mainly TVNZ news. But it has been chunk since yeaterday. If this iceberg come to Auckland, I will go to see it.

最近、氷河がニュージーランドに接近しているニュースを毎日楽しみにしてます。ニュージーランドは南極が近いから氷河がそこからながれてくるみたい。主に見ているのはTVNZなんだけど昨日割れちゃったみたい。もしオークランドに氷河がきたら見に行きたいなー。

Cake! Cake!! Cake!!!

We like a cake, so we have eaten cakes! This was a chocolate cake, which was ordered by my friend.
私たちはケーキが好き。これは友達がオーダーしたチョコケーキ。


This is mine, which is coated sticky caramel. Uhhn. Yummy!!
こっちは私の。とろっとしたキャラメルでコーティングされてます。おいしー。


When I was eating this cake, I want to drink coffee. The combination of cake and coffee were very nice.
そして、ケーキといったらコーヒーでしょ。最高だわ。

Gypsy Fair (ジプシーフェア)

When I went to Rotorua, Gypsy Fair was held in front of our hotel. It looks like a fairy tale. A man played guitar, some people sold clothes and other people sold pictures or sculpture. Maybe they moved from place to place in New Zealand. Also, their truck were very cute! I took a picture of their trucks’ back.

ロトルアに行ったとき、私たちのホテルの前でジプシーフェアをやっていた。まるでおとぎ話みたいな感じで、ギターを弾いている人がいて、洋服をうっている人たちと、絵や彫刻をうっている人たち。たぶん彼らはニュージーランを転々としているんだと思うんだけど。トラックもかわいかったので写真とっちゃいました。

Italian Food in NZ (ニュージーでイタリアン)

I had Italian food in Rotorua. This is the special recommended pasta, which is called shop’s name. We ordered this one, but this tastes something strange. I think this flavor is like a Chinese food. When I ate this more than half, I thought it is not so bad. I want to eat real Italian food. However, this rastaurant is very friendly and good location!!


ロトルアでイタリアンを食べた。このパスタはお店の名前がついたおすすめパスタだったので、私たちはこれをオーダー。でもちょっと不思議な味。おそらく中華料理を意識した味付けだからだと思う。半分ぐらい食べたら、そんなに悪くないかもって思ったけど、本物のイタリアンが食べたかった^^
でもお店はサービスもよくて立地もいいのでよかったです！

English is useful (英語って便利だなーと思う瞬間)

When we went to Rotorua, the bus was stopped. The driver said, “I stopped this bus. Because someone is trying to contact me, so maybe something was happened.”
In short, the driver’s cell phone was calling. I supposed he told someone about how to use household appliances. If I speak this sentence in Japanese, people will think stupid person. Therefore, I think these word, such as someone, something, anyone or anything, are useful!


ロトルアに向かっているとき、バスが止まって、ドライバーがこういった。「なにかあって、だれかが私に連絡を取ろうとしているのでバスを止めました。」
要は、ただ単にドライバーの携帯がなっているだけなんだけど。話の内容はおそらく家電製品の使い方^^
でもこんな文章を日本語でいったら、たぶんおかしな人だと思われる。someone、something、anyone、 anythingって便利な言葉だなーと思った。
